Where the numbers come from

Rushing means picking a chapter with almost no hard information. How big is it? What will it cost? Schools and national organizations publish a lot of this, but it's buried in PDFs and scattered across hundreds of sites. GreekStats pulls it into one place and lets members fill in the rest.

Three kinds of sources

School reports: Most Greek life offices publish a grade report every semester, and many list each chapter's member count. Some publish financial transparency reports with dues and housing costs. These are the bulk of our numbers, and each one links to the report it came from.
National organizations: National chapter directories tell us which chapters exist and whether they're active. We only list a chapter as active when the school or the national organization says it is.
Members: Current members and alumni can add what the reports miss, like this fall's new member class. We confirm you go to the school with a code sent to your .edu email, and someone checks every submission before it shows up.

How we check them

We reread the source: Reading tables out of PDFs goes wrong in boring ways: a row slips and one chapter gets its neighbor's number. So we open every report again and only publish a number if it sits next to that chapter's name. If the report moved, we link to where it lives now.
Council totals aren't chapter numbers: Some council pages print one figure next to every chapter, like an average size or a flat fee. When a page gives most of its chapters the same number, we leave it out.
Every number has a date: Numbers are labeled with the semester or school year their report covers, like Fall 2025. Pages that don't say show the month we checked them. Anything over two years old is marked.

What we won't do

Rank chapters: There's no “best chapter” list here. A bigger chapter or cheaper dues isn't better or worse, it depends on what you want. Lists start A to Z, and you can sort by a single number if you choose to.
Guess: If we don't have a number, the page says so. We don't estimate, average across schools, or fill gaps with a national figure.
Publish gossip or names: No member lists, no rumors, no hazing allegations. Contributor names and emails never appear anywhere on the site.

Something wrong?

Reports go out of date, and PDFs get misread. If a number on your chapter's page is wrong, open the chapter and choose “Update these numbers,” or start here. Older numbers stay in the chapter's history so you can see what changed.

GreekStats isn't run by or connected to any university, fraternity, sorority, or national council. Organization names and crests belong to their organizations and are shown only to identify them. If you represent an organization and want its crest removed, email support@yolobeam.comand we'll take it down.
